A 23-year-old archaeology student was killed during a research trip when an excavation pit collapsed.
Authorities said Surabhi Verma, a PhD student from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, was buried under the crumpled excavation pit near the Harappan Valley Civilization site in Lothal, Gujarat, on November 27. Her professor, Yama Dixit, 45, survived but remains in critical condition.
