Sometimes, the most engaging videos come from familiarity rather than spectacle. This month’s ViralPress Filmer Spotlight features Tananan Ruannark, a creator who began recording animals as part of everyday life, only to discover that what felt ordinary to him could fascinate millions. Recording what catches the eye
For Tananan, there was never a grand plan behind his videos.
'Nowadays, it’s very easy to record videos with a phone,' he said. 'So I take full advantage of what I have. When I come across something interesting, I usually record it.'
The clip that changed everything
The first video that truly stood out featured an unexpected subject: one of his own pets, a Dubia cockroach.
'After I posted the clip on social media, a lot of people became interested,' he explained. 'That made me think I should share more animal-related videos, because people seemed to enjoy them. And it turned out to be true.'
From pets at home to encounters outside
As interest grew, so did the variety of his recordings.
'I record my pets, but also animals I encounter outside,' Tananan said
Some of those moments reached global audiences through ViralPress, including clips such as a lazy pet cat was caught sleeping on top of an ATM machine and a caring gibbon being spotted grooming a deer as they shared a special moment together. These weren’t staged scenes, but simply animals behaving naturally, captured at the right moment.
Keeping the setup simple
Despite the reach of his videos, his approach hasn’t changed.
'I mainly use my mobile phone,' he shared. 'It’s convenient and the easiest way to record and review footage.'
A lesson he learned along the way
His advice to other creators comes from experience.
'If something looks interesting, record it right away' he said. 'You never know if others might enjoy it. I was already used to my own pets, but once I shared those clips, they became very interesting for other people.'
Discovering a way to earn from videos
