A dentist's wild attack on a customer became a major talking point in September. The footage, which shows a heated argument over dental braces that turned violent, was shared widely and featured by news outlets such as the Daily Mail, New York Post and TMZ among others.
A refund dispute turns violent
The incident shows a dentist in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, becoming angry when a patient demanded a refund for what she claimed was a bad braces fitting procedure. The video shows the angry dentist emerging from her office with a barbell weightlifting bar. She pointed the equipment at the patient’s face, pulled her off the sofa, and threw her iPhone on the floor. The dentist kept screaming and throwing things, even a mug, at the terrified patient.
Clinic shut down amidst investigation
The patient was treated for neck and shoulder injuries as police started an investigation. She claimed to have paid a lot of money for braces and later suffered from severe pain and bone damage. After the incident, the city's health department inspected the clinic. They allegedly found many problems, including the clinic performing procedures outside of its license and using staff without the right certificates. The clinic has since been temporarily closed.
