These dramatic images show a phoenix-like bird flying close to lava that continues to spew out of a volcano in Hawaii.

The video showing the tropical bird circling the smoking crater was taken at the Halemaʻumaʻu crater at the summit of the Kilauea volcano on the island of Hawaii.
