Cyclonic Winds Wreak Havoc in West Bengal’s Paschim Medinipur; Dantan, Belda Hit Hard

Strong squally winds battered parts of West Bengal’s Paschim Medinipur district on Tuesday afternoon, particularly Dantan and Belda. The powerful winds uprooted trees, damaged electricity wires and reportedly blew away auto-rickshaws, disrupting traffic and daily life. Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage, while details of any casualties remain unconfirmed. The IMD has also warned of further rain and gusty winds across South Bengal, with heavy rainfall possible in Paschim Medinipur on October 28–29. Residents have been advised to remain alert as Cyclone Arnab approaches the Andhra Pradesh coast.
