People Evacuate Buildings as Strong Earthquake Shakes Panama City

A strong earthquake has triggered panic across Panama, with people seen evacuating buildings and gathering in open areas as tremors shook Panama City. Footage captured by Freddy Pitti shows people rushing outside and gathering along streets as the tremors were felt across the city. The earthquake was reported at magnitude 7.7, with its epicentre near Pitaloza Arriba in Panama’s Herrera province. Tremors were also felt in neighbouring Colombia. The quake reportedly triggered aftershocks, temporary flight suspensions and power outages, while damage to buildings was reported in some central provinces. The Panama Canal continued operating.
