A CNG-powered car exploded while it was being refuelled at a station on National Highway-48 near Karjan in Gujarat’s Vadodara district on October 1, 2026.
CCTV footage shows the vehicle suddenly exploding during the refuelling process, with the blast tearing apart its rear section and sending metal and glass debris several metres across the station.
The station was located opposite Jindal Company. Two other vehicles parked nearby were also damaged in the explosion.
No injuries or fatalities were reported. The driver and others were outside the vehicle when the blast occurred, while station staff were also positioned away from the car. The Karjan fire team and police subsequently reached the station and took safety measures.
The exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation. Initial reports indicate that the vehicle’s CNG tank may have ruptured during filling, while authorities are examining the vehicle’s CNG system, cylinder and valves to determine what caused the blast.
