Heavy rain caused flash flooding in Montpellier’s Père Soulas neighborhood on September 30, 2026.
The footage shows fast-moving, murky floodwater rushing through the streets, creating waves against buildings, roads and curbs.
The flooding occurred during an exceptional Mediterranean rain event, with more than 200 millimetres of rainfall recorded in parts of the Hérault department. The Lez River overflowed, schools were closed and bus and tram services were suspended across the city.
