Man in ‘POLICE’-Marked WagonR Caught Uprooting Plant From Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in Baghpat

A man was caught on CCTV allegedly uprooting and taking away a plant from the divider of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat. The incident reportedly took place between Agarwal Mandi Tatiri and Baraut. CCTV footage shows a white WagonR stopping on the expressway, with the word “POLICE” visible on the vehicle. A man then gets out, walks towards the divider, uproots a plant and carries it back to the car before driving away. According to local reports, the car’s registration is said to be from Muzaffarnagar, while the identity of the person seen in the footage has not yet been established. NHAI officials are reportedly trying to identify the vehicle and the person involved using the CCTV footage. Baghpat Police said that, as of September 30, no information or written complaint regarding the incident had been received at Baraut police station, and NHAI had also not formally informed the police. Police said the facts were being verified and appropriate legal action would be taken based on the findings. The footage has raised questions about the use of “POLICE” markings on private vehicles, although the video itself does not establish whether the vehicle or the person has any official connection with the police
