A puppy fell into an open drain in Greater Noida’s Beta-1 sector, prompting a timely rescue by police personnel. The incident took place in the Beta-1 area under the jurisdiction of Beta-2 police station. The puppy reportedly fell into the uncovered drain, and its cries drew the attention of people in the vicinity. Police personnel noticed the situation and reached the spot. Using a rope, they carefully pulled the trapped puppy out of the drain and brought it to safety. The rescue was captured on camera. The incident has once again highlighted concerns over uncovered drains and open pits in Greater Noida. A report published on September 21 said residents in Beta-1 had raised concerns after the puppy fell into an open drain and called for the drain to be covered and safety measures to be installed around such locations. The concern is not limited to this particular spot. Recent reports have identified several open drains across Greater Noida, including locations along the 130-metre road, near Saki-Pur underpass, and in Zeta-1 and Eta-1. Residents have warned that these uncovered drains pose risks to pedestrians and motorists. In Beta-1, residents have also previously raised concerns about open pits and other unsafe infrastructure. A local residents' association had called for urgent action after an open pit remained exposed for several days, warning that such hazards could lead to serious accidents. The issue has also been highlighted in recent reporting on Greater Noida's wider civic problems. Residents of Beta-1 have raised concerns about both open drains and stray animals, with an uncovered drain near Ryan International School specifically flagged as a potential danger to schoolchildren and pedestrians. While the puppy was rescued safely in this incident, residents are demanding that the concerned authorities cover open drains and secure exposed pits to prevent similar incidents involving both people and animals.
