Massive Banyan Tree Collapses in Surat’s Nanpura Market, Three Injured; CCTV Captures Rescue

A massive banyan tree suddenly collapsed near Nanpura Circle in Surat, triggering panic in the busy market area. The incident took place near Dhotivala Bakery and the vegetable market in Nanpura, where the tree came crashing down onto the roadside area. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, showing people scrambling to safety as the huge tree fell. Three people were trapped under the fallen tree and suffered injuries. According to local reports, people nearby immediately rushed to their aid and managed to pull all three victims out before the fire department arrived. The injured were subsequently taken to hospital for treatment. Several vehicles parked in the area were also crushed under the tree. Local reports put the number at around four vehicles, while shops and roadside businesses also suffered damage. The sudden collapse caused chaos in the busy Nanpura market, with street vendors and pedestrians seen rushing away as the tree came down. After being alerted, Surat Fire and Emergency Services personnel reached the spot and launched a rescue and clearance operation. Firefighters used cutting equipment to cut through the fallen tree and remove the trapped vehicles. The team also worked to clear the blocked main road and restore traffic movement. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in the incident. Surat Municipal Corporation's Fire and Emergency Services carries out rescue and relief operations during natural and other emergencies, with emergency response available through the city's fire control system. The cause of the tree's sudden collapse has not been established in the reports reviewed.
