Dense Fog, Strong Winds Blanket Mount Fuji’s Fujinomiya Route Near Season’s End

Thick fog and strong winds were reported on Mount Fuji’s Fujinomiya climbing route on September 9, as the official climbing season nears its end. Footage from the new 7th station shows severely reduced visibility, with hikers in rain gear navigating the dark, rocky trail near a mountain shelter and guide ropes. Although the rain had stopped, harsh winds and dense mist continued to create difficult conditions for climbers.
