Injured Leopard Attacks Forest Official During Rescue Operation in Karnataka’s Davanagere

An injured leopard attacked a forest department official during a rescue operation in Davanagere, Karnataka. The leopard was found severely injured beside National Highway 48 near Anagodu in Davanagere taluk, reportedly after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the road. The animal was lying by the roadside in severe pain, with an apparent leg injury. Forest Department officials reached the spot and began preparations to rescue and relocate the leopard while waiting for a veterinarian. During the operation, Forest Department watcher Marulasiddappa was attacked when he attempted to rescue the injured animal. The leopard bit his hand and shoulder, but he managed to escape without major injuries. Marulasiddappa was taken to a private hospital in Davanagere, where he is undergoing treatment. The leopard was later tranquilised and safely shifted to Hampi Zoo for further care.
