Delhi Building Collapse: One Dead, Six Rescued as Several Feared Trapped in Satya Niketan

A major building collapse in Delhi’s Satya Niketan area has triggered a large-scale rescue operation. The multi-storey building, reportedly being used as a paying-guest accommodation, collapsed at around 1:30 PM on Sunday, September 6, trapping several people under the debris. According to the latest reports, at least one person has died, while six people have been rescued and taken to hospital. Two of those rescued were reported to be in critical condition. Several others are still feared trapped beneath the rubble. Delhi Police, the Delhi Fire Service, NDRF and other emergency teams are continuing the search-and-rescue operation, with rescuers carefully removing debris in an effort to reach anyone still trapped. The building reportedly accommodated students and other residents, and authorities are working to establish exactly how many people were inside when the structure collapsed. The cause of the collapse has not yet been officially confirmed, although reports indicate construction work was underway in the building. The rescue operation remains underway, with authorities continuing to assess the number of casualties and survivors.
