A cow trapped in the fast-flowing Nandakini River in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district was safely rescued by a joint team of Chamoli Police, District Disaster Management and Nagar Panchayat personnel. The rescue operation in Nandanagar saw the team use ropes to reach the exhausted animal amid strong currents and slippery, moss-covered rocks before pulling it safely out of the river. The rescue comes as Chamoli remains vulnerable to heavy rain, flash floods and landslides during the monsoon. Nandanagar and surrounding areas have faced severe weather-related incidents in recent years, with authorities repeatedly carrying out rescue and relief operations in the region.
