‘MOTHERSHIP’ SUPERCELL LOOMS OVER NEW YORK AS TORNADO WARNING ISSUED

A massive supercell storm towered over rural fields near Elba in Genesee County, New York, creating a striking “mothership” appearance in the sky.
Footage captured by storm chaser and Cornell meteorology student @kev_weather shows the storm’s enormous structure, with a prominent shelf cloud and an ominously dark base stretching across the horizon.
The dramatic storm developed amid a period of severe weather across western and central New York, where tornado watches and warnings were issued.
The National Weather Service reported a confirmed tornado near Byron in Genesee County during the severe weather outbreak, with the storm moving southeast and posing a threat of damaging winds, hail and flying debris.
The powerful storm system brought dangerous conditions across the region, with multiple communities placed under tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings.
The towering cloud formation seen in the footage highlights the immense structure of a powerful supercell as it moved across the New York countryside.
