Dramatic Footage Shows Floodwaters Swallowing Roads and Homes in Japan’s Toyama

Dramatic footage from Himi in Toyama Prefecture shows severe flooding after torrential rain battered the region on August 26 and 27. The videos show vehicles forced to reverse on flooded roads near Suigo Park along Route 76, while a local river near the Man'o River rises dangerously and spills over its banks. Floodwater can also be seen reaching the entrance of a home, highlighting the severity of the inundation in residential areas. The heavy rain triggered the highest-level emergency warnings in parts of the region, with evacuations ordered as rivers overflowed, roads were closed and large areas were affected by flooding. The footage was recorded in the Himi area during the early morning hours as the situation continued to deteriorate.
