A tense encounter unfolded on the Gudalur–Mysore road in Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris district when a wild elephant charged a white tourist car as a herd crossed the forested highway. Footage shows several elephants, including calves, surrounding the vehicle. One adult elephant moves aggressively toward the car and appears to push against it, while other vehicles remain stopped nearby. The tourists inside the car were reportedly unharmed, and the herd eventually moved away from the road. The Nilgiris is home to important elephant habitats and movement corridors, and roads passing through these forest areas frequently bring wild elephants into close contact with motorists. Forest officials routinely urge drivers travelling through elephant corridors to slow down, maintain a safe distance and never attempt to approach or obstruct the animals.
