What was meant to be a grand pre-release celebration for actor Yash’s upcoming film ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ turned chaotic in Hyderabad on Saturday evening after part of the sound and lighting setup collapsed amid a massive crowd.
The incident took place at Malla Reddy University, where thousands of fans and students had gathered to see the actor. Footage from the event shows people falling as the structure suddenly gives way, with panic spreading through the crowd.
According to reports, several attendees had moved close to the stage, while some were seen climbing onto structures to get a better view. Police had repeatedly urged the crowd to move back because of overcrowding concerns.
Initial reports varied on the number of injured. Later updates from police said four people were injured, including a student who suffered a leg fracture, while others sustained minor injuries. Other reports put the number at five. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Yash paused his speech after noticing the incident and asked organisers to check on the affected fans, urging those at the venue to remain careful.
The incident has raised fresh questions about crowd management and safety arrangements at large celebrity events. ‘Toxic’, directed by Geetu Mohandas and starring Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara and others, is scheduled for release on August 26, 2026.
