Tokyo Resident Captures Strong Shaking From Magnitude 5.9 Earthquake

A resident in Tokyo’s Nerima Ward captured the intense shaking inside a 10th-floor apartment after a magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck southern Ibaraki Prefecture in the early hours of August 23.

The earthquake struck at around 2 a.m. local time, with strong shaking reported across parts of Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba and Ibaraki. Nerima recorded a seismic intensity of 4, while some areas experienced lower 5 intensity.
