EF-1 Tornado Tears Through Dover, Delaware as Powerful Winds Damage Buildings

A confirmed EF-1 tornado struck Dover, Delaware, on August 20, catching residents off guard as the storm rapidly intensified.
Footage filmed by Akhil George captures the tornado developing after a warning was issued, with a visible funnel emerging within minutes.
The tornado produced peak winds of around 105 mph, damaging hotels along North DuPont Highway, the Kraft-Heinz facility and Little League fields. The storm also brought down power lines, scattered debris and caused widespread power outages.
The National Weather Service classified the tornado as a QLCS-type tornado with an embedded mini-supercell, a relatively uncommon setup in the Mid-Atlantic. No injuries were reported.
