Palm Tree Bends Dramatically as Powerful Winds Lash Spain’s Valencia Region

A palm tree was seen bending dramatically under powerful winds and heavy rain during a severe storm in Spain’s Valencia region on August 20. Footage filmed from a rooftop shows the tree swaying violently as strong gusts batter the area. The storm, linked to a DANA weather system and powerful downbursts, brought wind gusts of up to 149 km/h in parts of the region. The severe weather caused widespread disruption, including fallen and uprooted trees, damage to vehicles and buildings, and delays to rail services. Emergency teams were also called out to deal with the impacts of the storm.
