Forest Officials’ Quick Action Saves Nine Elephants from Rajdhani Express in Assam

A timely intervention by Assam Forest Department officials helped prevent a potentially tragic elephant-train collision in Hojai early this morning.

According to officials, a herd of nine elephants was moving towards a railway track, apparently preparing to cross over. A forest official monitoring the area spotted the herd approaching the tracks and immediately alerted the oncoming Rajdhani Express by flashing a high-beam torch towards the train.
