Sudden flash flood sweeps tourists down waterfall in Chiang Mai, Thailand on August 14, 2026.
A man and his friends set off on a trip to relax at Mon Jam in Chiang Mai Province. Along the way, they stopped by Mae Sa Waterfall at around 3:40 PM. Upon arrival, he noticed a few scattered groups of tourists, which didn't raise any concern, so he and his friends decided to trek all the way up to the top tier of the waterfall. Apart from the water being slightly murky due to rain, there were no unusual or suspicious signs. They eventually walked back down to the fifth tier, a popular picnic area where about three to four groups around 10 people in total were eating, taking photos, and walking across rocks in the middle of the stream.
