Rain batters Tokyo as Typhoon Ampil approaches Japan

Video footage shows the torrential rains pouring through the streets on Friday, August 16, grounding hundreds of flights and evacuating tens of thousands of people.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) estimated that at 4:00 pm, Ampil was 105 miles (170 km) south of Choshi in Chiba Prefecture and was expected to approach the eastern Kanto region by Friday evening.
