The Sakurajima volcano erupted and spewed a massive ash cloud soaring to 12,000ft above the crater in Japan on Saturday, July 20.
Officials said it is the 24th eruption of Sakurajima this year. It has led to increased monitoring and alert levels, with authorities and volcanologists closely observing the fluctuating activity of the stratovolcano in Kagoshima Prefecture, Kyushu, due to the significant plume height.
