Heavy rain and thunder hit Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on Monday morning, with police issuing a safety warning over the torrential weather.

A Dubai Police spokesman said the city was 'exposed to fluctuations in weather conditions' and advised members of the public to 'stay away from beaches, avoid areas of valleys, torrent flows, and low places'.
