Abused elephant prepares for return from Sri Lanka to Thailand for medical treatment

Footage shows the ailing elephant Sak Surin as he prepares to fly home for medical treatment from Sri Lanka to Thailand on July 2.

The Asian elephant was one of three jumbos gifted by the Royal Family to Sri Lanka in 2001 where he spent two decades in a Buddhist temple, being renamed Muthu Raja and given honored roles in religious processions.
