Chaos erupted on the first day of the World Cup in Qatar with thousands of fans surging into a holding area for supporters.

Footage shows the crammed scene at the FIFA Fan Festival outside the Al Bidda Park in Doha on Sunday night an hour before the hosts played Ecuador.
