Fighter jets display Russian flag colours to mark the country's annual Navy Day

Military fighter jets flew displayed the red, white and blue colors of the Russian flag as they flew over Saint Petersburg, Russia, today to mark the country's annual Navy Day.

The annual national holiday honoring the sailors in units of the Russian Navy and its specialised arm takes on extra significance amid the country's ongoing war with neighboring Ukraine, which has claimed the lives of an estimated 25,000 Russian soldiers. It was marked on July 31.
