Bangkok airport busy as locals get away for Songkran new year holiday

Footage shows the Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) serving Bangkok, Thailand, today as locals left on holidays for the annual Songkran new year festival.

Songkran started this year on April 13 and lasts for three days. Locals traditionally throw water over friends, relatives and passers-by for good luck. However, officials have banned organized alcohol-fuelled mass water-throwing parties this year due to the current Covid-19 pandemic.
