Footage shows The Death Railway running along the River Kwai bridge that was featured in the 1957 war film The Bridge on the River Kwai. It is seen in the video during a warm sunset and unusually quiet due to the low numbers of tourists visiting Thailand due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions on travel. The railway line in Kanchanaburi, western Thailand, was built by prisoners of war of the Japanese from 1940–1944 to supply troops and weapons in the Burma campaign of World War II. It connected Burma - where Japan had seized control from the British - and Bangkok, Thailand. The railway is known by various names including the Burma Railway, the Death Railway, the Siam–Burma Railway, the Thai–Burma Railway.
