Footage captured in Kaohsiung City on Thursday morning shows the rain and strong gusts battering the region.
Meteorologists reported that Typhoon Krathon has maximum sustained winds of 173 kph (107.5 mph) and gusts of up to 209 kph (129.9 mph).
